Blackout Blinds (DKL)
Blackout blinds provide near total blackout from the sun, making them the perfect option for a bedroom. Even the brightest sunlight can be excluded, allowing the room to be used for daytime rest, or a lie in.
These blinds used to be known as Siesta blinds.
The Blackout blind features an outer aluminium foil. In summer this helps reflect excessive heat from the sun back outside the room, whilst in winter, it retains the heat within the room, thereby creating a more pleasant indoor environment.
The blind is located in aluminium side channels. This allows the blind to be located in any position on the window while preventing daylight entering at the sides.
Blackout Blinds main features:
• Exclude even the brightest sunlight, providing the ideal conditions for rest at any time
• Natural choice for rooms where children (and grown-ups) like to take an afternoon nap
• VELUX offers a range of colours to match your interior decor
• Add a supplementary pleated blind to get two blinds in one
Velux blinds come with all fixtures and fittings and are very simple to fit. Click here for a video showing how to fit Velux blinds.

Velux Blackout blinds can very effectively reduce the light in a bedroom, even the lighter colour selections (eg) the Beige 1085 as illustrated here. When fully closed, these three blinds will eliminate all light from the room-especially useful in the Summer when it starts to get light at about 4am!
